This page sets out how the guides on this site are written and checked, and what commercial interests sit behind them. It is here so you can judge the rest.

Who writes it

Every page is written by Nick Peplow. I am not a doctor, a surgeon, a dermatologist or a trichologist. I run Thailand Care, which arranges treatment for international patients at Bangkok hospitals, and the experience behind these guides comes from more than a decade of coordinating patients through consultations, operations and recoveries.

Nothing here is medical advice. It is background to help you prepare for a consultation with someone who can examine you.

How pages are researched

Each guide is built from clinical guidance and published literature, from the manufacturer trial data where a drug is involved, and from what I have seen in practice. Where I am describing something I have watched happen rather than something published, I say so.

Figures are given as hedged ranges. Costs, timelines and complication rates vary by country, clinic and patient, and a precise number would be false precision. Where the evidence is genuinely contested, which in this field includes PRP, post-finasteride symptoms and most of the supplement market, the page says the evidence is contested rather than picking a side.

I do not invent citations, statistics or study results. If a figure is not sourced, it is presented as a range with the date it was last reviewed.

Review and updates

Every page carries a reviewed date. That date changes when I re-check the costs, the timelines and the clinical guidance on that page, not when I fix a typo.

Prices move fastest and are the most likely thing to be out of date. If you have a recent quote that does not match what a page says, please send it.

Commercial interests, in full

I own and pay for this site. There are no sponsors.

There are no affiliate links anywhere on this site, no discount codes, no referral commissions and no sponsored content. This matters more here than in most fields, because hair restoration affiliate marketing is enormous and a great deal of what looks like independent advice is paid for by clinics.

My commercial interest is Thailand Care, stated on every relevant page. Nothing on this site steers you to book through it, and several pages argue that having treatment near home is better because aftercare is reachable.

When a clinic directory opens, listings will be free and cannot be bought, and no clinic will be able to pay for position or for a more favourable description.

Corrections

I want them. If a price is out of date, a clinic has changed, a technique description does not match what you were told, or I have simply got something wrong, tell me with the page and, if you have one, a source.

Corrections that change the substance of a page are noted at the foot of it with the date. Typos are just fixed.
